Visiting the largest market in the Derbyshire Dales. Bakewell stall market occupies two sites and has 162 regular stalls. The stall market dates from the 1920 s. The current day market has a wide variety of clothes, bed linen, shoes, fruit & veg, freshly baked bread, flowers, jewellery, wool, toys and hot food stands, everything for the intrepid shopper. Also, the town has some interesting local shops to explore and not to forget the Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, for a tasty treat. Early afternoon make our way to Peak Village outlet, for some further retail therapy and more breath-taking Derbyshire countryside, return home direct.

An opportunity today to visit this fine city, with the fair amount of its Roman walls still intact. The City Centre
is a warren of cobbled street overlooked by the Gothic-style York Minster cathedral, known for its stained glass windows. Family-friendly attractions include JORVIK Viking Centre, with Old Norse dioramas, and recreated Victorian streets in the Castle Museum, the Tudor-era Shambles is a quaint lane with Boutiques, antique shops and chocolatiers, plus daily market. Traditional pubs & taverns line the River Ouse. Or to embrace the City's rich history either a River cruise or guided open-top bus is a must (subject to availability).

Popular with our friends over the years, with bargains galore on 3 floors, with good cafeteria facilities on most levels. They have a meet and greet service which is always appreciated, and usually offer our friends discount vouchers to help with their purchases, we then return home direct mid-afternoon.

Our early autumn return to YORKSHIRE, firstly to Featherstone & the VICTORIA GARDEN CENTRE, for a brief look at their retail opportunities and a morning coffee before making the short journey along the M62 to the Yorkshire Mill, BATLEY, a popular venue with all our friends over the years, with 4 floors of bargains galore, served by a lift and 3 escalators. with good catering facilities on all levels. They have a meet and greet service for groups, which is always appreciated, and usually offer our friends discount vouchers to help with their purchases, we then return home direct late afternoon.

Eden Camp & Thornton Dale
4th July
Through the Yorkshire Wolds to Malton, to the Eden Camp. A modern history museum, dedicated to the memories of WWII. You will have the opportunity at leisure to explore around a dozen of the former WW2 prisoner of war huts, which have been carefully re-modelled and transformed to recreate the atmosphere of WW2, with scenes of the blitz, operation's room, living quarters of the 1930's, various army vehicles, uniforms, wax models of Winston Churchill & Field Marshall Montgomery also with his staff car etc. Refreshments & hot food available in the NAAFI.
